Plastering Procedures
Considered the waterproofing system for the entire building, it typically consists of a specified rated layer of paper with wire over top of it to help support and attach the cement coating to be applied on afterwards. Each job is different of course and depending on the building type the materials needed will vary however the system will be the same. Lath is the foundation and an essential procedure for a well executed project.
This procedure involves the bonding of cement onto the lath system. It is the first two foundational layers of a traditional three-coat stucco system. The scratch coat provides a rough textured base for bonding, while the brown coat provides strength fills in imperfections and prepares a plumb surface for the final finish coat.
The “color” coat is the final step for the stucco process, this determines the texture and the color of the stucco. Typically the final coat is around 1/8-inch thickness and provides a beautiful, durable finish that matches the home’s aesthetic.
Additional Services
This is a base coat of a cement/acrylic layer with a fiberglass mesh imbedded in it for reinforcement. The system helps for crack prevention as well as patch visibility. When patching old + new stucco, use the base and mesh system.
Foam installation requires a base typically Brown coat and foam adhered to it by applying polymer-modified cement adhesive to the back of the foam trim and installing it on the exterior walls. We will then proceed to cover the foam with a mesh imbedded in a base coat. Creating a durable substrate for the stucco.
This finish creates a rough patterned surface adding depth and visual interest with various looks like sandy, pebbled, or troweled designs.
